A Stillwater resident, Wayne Robert Lund, has been indicted on charges related to the illegal possession of unregistered firearms and explosives. U.S. Attorney Andrew M. Luger announced the charges against Lund, who is 46 years old.
Court documents reveal that on November 2, 2024, Lund was found with eight destructive devices not registered in the National Firearms Registration and Transfer Record. Additionally, he possessed explosives and hundreds of rounds of ammunition. Due to prior felony convictions in Ramsey and Anoka Counties, federal law prohibits Lund from possessing firearms, explosives, or ammunition.
Lund faces several charges: one count of possession of unregistered firearms, one count of possessing explosives as a felon, one count of possessing firearms as a felon, and one count of possession of ammunition as a felon. He made his first court appearance on December 11, 2024, before Magistrate Judge Dulce J. Foster in U.S. District Court. Magistrate Judge David T. Schultz ordered him to remain in custody pending further proceedings during his detention hearing.
The investigation involved multiple agencies including the FBI; Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives; Oak Park Heights Police Department; Stillwater Police Department; Saint Paul Police Department; Saint Croix County Sheriff's Department (Wisconsin); with assistance from the U.S. Marshals Service.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Benjamin Bejar is leading the prosecution for this case.
It is important to note that an indictment is merely an allegation at this stage; the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in court.
