Tahlequah man pleads guilty to child exploitation charge

Anthony James Deason, a 29-year-old resident of Tahlequah, Oklahoma, has pleaded guilty to charges related to child sexual exploitation. The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma announced that Deason admitted guilt to one count of attempted receipt of material involving the sexual exploitation of a minor.

According to the indictment, Deason tried to use a minor in sexually explicit conduct with the intention of producing and transmitting visual depictions across state lines via the internet. This case emerged from an investigation conducted by the Tahlequah Police Department and Homeland Security Investigations.

The plea was accepted by U.S. Magistrate Judge Gerald L. Jackson in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma. Following this, Judge Jackson ordered a presentence investigation report and remanded Deason into custody under the supervision of the United States Marshals Service until sentencing.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Caila M. Cleary represented the prosecution in this case.
