Chidi Anthony Okafor, a 26-year-old resident of Charleston, West Virginia, has been sentenced to 10 years and one month in federal prison. This will be followed by five years of supervised release for distributing over 50 grams of methamphetamine. The sentencing took place on December 12, 2024.
Court documents revealed that Okafor sold approximately 338.3 grams of methamphetamine to a confidential informant on October 31, 2022, in Charleston.
United States Attorney Will Thompson announced the sentencing and praised the Metropolitan Drug Enforcement Network Team (MDENT) and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security-Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) for their investigative efforts. MDENT includes several law enforcement agencies: the Charleston Police Department, Kanawha County Sheriff's Office, Putnam County Sheriff's Office, Nitro Police Department, St. Albans Police Department, and South Charleston Police Department.
The sentence was handed down by Senior United States District Judge John T. Copenhaver Jr., with Assistant United States Attorneys Alexander A. Redmon and Ryan A. Keefe prosecuting the case.
