Tracey Brown, a 45-year-old resident of Chelyan, West Virginia, has pleaded guilty to federal drug charges involving the distribution of methamphetamine. Court documents reveal that on December 12, 2023, Brown acquired approximately 17 pounds of methamphetamine in Dayton, Ohio. He transported the drugs to his residence in Elkview, West Virginia. Brown admitted to distributing about one pound and planned to distribute the remainder with another individual in Southern West Virginia.

On December 13, 2023, law enforcement executed a search warrant at Brown's Elkview residence and seized the remaining methamphetamine. Brown is set for sentencing on March 12, 2025. He faces a mandatory minimum sentence of ten years up to life imprisonment, along with at least five years of supervised release and a potential $10 million fine.

United States Attorney Will Thompson praised the efforts of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the U.S. Route 119 Drug Task Force: “Their outstanding efforts prevented a staggering amount of methamphetamine from reaching our streets and poisoning our community.”

The U.S. Route 119 Drug Task Force includes members from several sheriff's offices and the West Virginia State Police. Senior United States District Judge David A. Faber presided over the hearing, with Assistant United States Attorney Samuel D. Marsh prosecuting.
