A Lawrence man has been sentenced to a decade in federal prison for his involvement in a methamphetamine trafficking conspiracy. Ronny Ramos, 32, received a 120-month sentence from U.S. District Court Judge Samantha Elliott, along with three years of supervised release. In August 2024, Ramos admitted guilt to one count of conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute methamphetamine. A trial date for a co-defendant is scheduled for March 18, 2025.
"The defendant trafficked staggering amounts of methamphetamine into New Hampshire," stated U.S. Attorney Jane Young. She emphasized the significant danger posed by methamphetamine to individuals and the community, noting that law enforcement at all levels will continue efforts against drug distribution in New Hampshire.
Acting DEA Special Agent in Charge Stephen Belleau commented on the rise of methamphetamine seizures: "Yesterday’s sentence not only holds Mr. Ramos accountable for his crimes but serves as a warning to those who attempt to distribute this poison in the Granite State."
Court documents reveal that Ramos conspired to transport approximately 50 pounds of methamphetamine from Massachusetts to New Hampshire multiple times between March and October 2023. He received five separate orders from his co-defendant through an intermediary, with payments made similarly. Each order ranged from 10-12 pounds at about $20,000 per order. The drugs were delivered to the co-defendant in New Hampshire. On October 31, 2023, law enforcement arrested Ramos in Methuen, Massachusetts, seizing ten pounds of methamphetamine intended for New Hampshire.
The Drug Enforcement Administration led the investigation with assistance from the Manchester Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Cesar A. Vega prosecuted the case.
