U.S. District Judge Sheri Polster Chappell has sentenced Felix Alberto Quinones, a 26-year-old from Clewiston, to six years in federal prison. Quinones was convicted for distributing cocaine and carrying a firearm during a drug trafficking offense. He entered a guilty plea on August 28, 2024.
Court documents reveal that Quinones sold cocaine and a firearm to an undercover agent from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) on October 3, 2023. He also admitted to selling cocaine to another undercover ATF agent on October 11, 2023.
The investigation was conducted by the ATF and prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Mark Morgan.
This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), an initiative aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence through collaboration between law enforcement agencies and communities. The Department launched an enhanced violent crime reduction strategy for PSN on May 26, 2021. This strategy focuses on fostering trust within communities, supporting organizations that prevent violence, setting strategic enforcement priorities, and measuring outcomes.
