A Gloucester County man has been sentenced to 120 months in prison for drug trafficking and firearm possession as a felon. The announcement was made by U.S. Attorney Philip R. Sellinger.
George W. Joyce, aged 40 from Glassboro, admitted guilt before U.S. District Judge Christine P. O’Hearn on charges of intent to distribute over 50 grams of methamphetamine and possessing a firearm as a felon. The sentencing took place in Camden federal court.
Court documents reveal that on March 29, 2023, law enforcement executed a search warrant at Joyce’s residence in Glassboro, New Jersey. Officers discovered approximately 2,587 methamphetamine pills in his bedroom which Joyce intended to distribute. Additionally, two loaded firearms were found and admitted by Joyce to be unlawfully possessed due to his status as a felon.
Besides the prison sentence, Judge O’Hearn ordered Joyce to four years of supervised release.
U.S. Attorney Sellinger acknowledged the efforts of FBI’s Wilmington Resident Agency led by Special Agent in Charge William J. DelBagno in Baltimore for their role in the investigation leading to this outcome. He also expressed gratitude towards the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Delaware, FBI’s Philadelphia Field Office, Delaware State Police, and New Castle County Police Department for their support.
The case is prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Jeffrey Bender from the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Camden.
