Christian Alberto Arango, a 33-year-old resident of Deltona, Florida, has been sentenced to eight years and one month in federal prison. The sentence was handed down by U.S. District Judge Wendy Berger for the crimes of receipt and possession of child sexual abuse material. Following his prison term, Arango will undergo ten years of supervised release. He is also required to register as a sex offender and forfeit a computer and cell phone used in committing the offenses. Arango had pleaded guilty on June 11, 2024.
Court documents revealed that Arango was identified during an FBI investigation into an individual involved in producing and selling child sexual abuse material online. On November 13, 2023, FBI agents executed a search warrant at Arango's residence in Deltona, seizing his computer and cell phone. A forensic examination uncovered over 500 images and more than 600 videos depicting child sexual abuse, including content involving toddlers.
In an interview with agents on February 13, 2024, Arango admitted to purchasing and downloading hundreds of such images since around 2018.
The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and prosecuted by Special Assistant United States Attorney Matthew Del Mastro.
This case forms part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched by the Department of Justice in May 2006 aimed at combating child sexual exploitation and abuse. The project brings together federal, state, and local resources to locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who exploit children sexually while identifying and rescuing victims.
