The City of Bismarck is seeking to fill the position of Assistant City Attorney. This role involves providing legal services to the city, with a focus on prosecuting ordinance violations.
Key responsibilities include preparing cases for prosecution in municipal court, reviewing police reports, and making decisions regarding criminal charges. The Assistant City Attorney will also prepare cases for jury trials in district court, coordinate evidence reviews, conduct legal research, and assist with various legal issues in municipal court.
Additional duties involve drafting legal documents, assisting in the creation of municipal ordinances and regulations, responding to public inquiries about city rules, answering legal questions from city departments, and deciding on property damage claims.
Candidates must have graduated from an accredited law school and possess experience sufficient to understand subordinate roles. A current membership in the State Bar of North Dakota is required.
