The trial of the State of Maryland v. William Porter is set to commence on Wednesday, December 2, 2015. The proceedings will be overseen by Judge Barry G. Williams at the Circuit Court for Baltimore City, located in Courthouse East.
The court has made provisions for media coverage during the trial. A limited number of seats in the courtroom will be reserved for media representatives on a first-come, first-served basis. Each media outlet can have one representative present, and they must arrive by 8 a.m. to secure their spot.
For those unable to obtain seating in the main courtroom, an overflow room will be available with a live audio/video feed from Courtroom 234. However, electronic devices are not allowed in either courtroom or overflow area; these may only be used in Room 235, designated as the media room. Media personnel are advised to bring their own Wi-Fi devices as there is no Wi-Fi available within the courthouse.
Parking restrictions will be enforced around both courthouses during the trial period. A designated staging area for media trucks has been arranged at City Hall Plaza. Media representatives are reminded not to obstruct pedestrian walkways or public areas.
All attending media should familiarize themselves with the Security/Media Protocol Order (Trial Proceedings) and adhere to policies regarding electronic devices and cameras within court facilities.
