Students from Meade, Broadneck, and Glen Burnie high schools are set to participate in the "Schools in the Court" program offered by the District Court in Anne Arundel County. The event is scheduled for Thursday, February 15, at 9:30 a.m., and will take place in Courtroom 1 at the Anne Arundel County District Court located at 251 Rowe Blvd., Annapolis.

The program aims to educate students on the legal and financial consequences of poor decision-making. Attendees will have the opportunity to observe real court cases and engage with court personnel through question-and-answer sessions. Topics such as drunk driving, speeding, and texting while driving will be addressed by individuals who have had firsthand experiences with these offenses.

A significant component of this program focuses on mental health issues among youth. Conducted alongside mental health professionals, this segment seeks to raise awareness about mental health crises and equip students with knowledge to recognize crisis signs in themselves or others. Additionally, it highlights resources available for immediate assistance.

Administrative Judge Shaem C.P. Spencer of the District Court in Anne Arundel County will preside over the session.
