The Maryland Judiciary has announced the winners of its 18th Annual Conflict Resolution Day Bookmark Art Contest, marking a record number of entries with 3,927 submissions. Participants included students from 51 public schools, two private schools, and two homeschools across 11 counties and Baltimore City. The contest is sponsored by the Maryland Judiciary’s Mediation and Conflict Resolution Office (MACRO).
Chief Justice Matthew J. Fader of the Supreme Court of Maryland will host a special celebration on Thursday, December 7. He will meet with students and their parents to commend them for their artwork centered around themes such as positive communication, kindness, respect, inclusion, and understanding people with different physical abilities.
Nine winners from grades K-2, 3-5, and 6-8 will receive cash prizes for first-, second-, and third-place finishes. Additionally, select student bookmarks will be printed and distributed throughout Maryland to promote conflict resolution. Fifteen students will also receive honorable mentions.
The award ceremony is scheduled to take place at the Maryland Judicial Center in Annapolis from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
