Maryland's top high school mock trial teams are set to present their cases before the Supreme Court of Maryland on March 24, 2023. The event marks the 40th anniversary of the Maryland Youth & the Law (MYLaw) Mock Trial State Championship. Chief Justice Matthew J. Fader and Justice Angela M. Eaves will oversee the proceedings in Annapolis.

Since January, high school teams have been working on this year's case, State of Maryland v. Ryan Grimes, across various courts in Maryland. Successful teams from local levels moved on to regional competitions with support from numerous volunteer attorneys, judges, and magistrates.

The semifinalists competing for the state championship include Beth Tfiloh from Baltimore County; North Point High School from Charles County; Richard Montgomery High School from Montgomery County; and Severna Park High School from Anne Arundel County. The winning team will advance to a national competition.

The championship is organized by MYLaw in collaboration with the Maryland Judiciary.
