Pre-trial proceedings for the case of State of Maryland v. Garrett Miller are set to commence on July 27, 2016. The proceedings will begin with a motions hearing at Courthouse East in Baltimore City, where pending motions may be addressed before jury selection starts the following day.
Judge Barry G. Williams will preside over the case. Jury selection is scheduled to take place on July 28, 2016, at the Clarence M. Mitchell, Jr. Courthouse in Baltimore City.
Media representatives have been informed that limited courtroom seating will be available during these proceedings. Those who previously registered for other related trials do not need to register again for this trial. Seats will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis with one representative per media outlet allowed until all reserved spaces are filled.
Overflow seating will be provided if space permits, featuring a live closed-circuit audio/video feed. However, electronic devices such as cell phones and cameras are prohibited inside both courtrooms and overflow rooms.
Designated media rooms where electronic devices can be used will be available outside the courthouses for interviews. Photography and videography are not allowed within these areas or inside the courthouses themselves.
Parking restrictions around both courthouses will be strictly enforced, with a designated staging area for media trucks at City Hall Plaza. Media representatives must adhere to protocols outlined in several Security/Media Protocol Orders related to pre-trial motions, jury selection, and trial proceedings.
