More than 100 high school students from Anne Arundel County will visit the Anne Arundel County District Court on April 7. The event, part of the Schools in the Court program, aims to educate students about the legal and financial consequences of offenses such as drunk driving. This initiative comes just before prom season.

"This program is being held right before prom season, and the students will hear from people who have experienced the personal and life-changing effects of poor choices," stated Judge Shaem C.P. Spencer, who presides over the program. During their visit, students will observe actual court proceedings in criminal cases and interact with members of the Maryland State Police K-9 squad.

Participants include students from Arundel, Chesapeake, North County high schools, and The Harbour School. This session marks the final Schools in the Court event for this academic year organized by the District Court of Maryland in Anne Arundel County.

The media are invited to attend this educational session scheduled for Thursday morning at Courtroom 1 of Anne Arundel County District Court in Annapolis. Those interested can contact Maryland Judiciary’s Office of Communications and Public Affairs for more information regarding attendance or camera permissions.
