Honorable Matthew Fader Chief Justice | Maryland Judiciary Website

Post-conviction proceedings for the State of Maryland v. Adnan Syed are set to take place over three days, starting on February 3, 2016. The hearings will be held at the Circuit Court for Baltimore City, with Judge Martin P. Welch presiding.

A limited number of seats in the courtroom have been reserved specifically for media representatives. Those interested must contact the Maryland Judiciary’s Office of Communications and Public Affairs via email to request a seat. Each media outlet is allowed one representative on a first-come, first-served basis until all reserved seats are filled.

For those unable to secure a courtroom seat due to capacity restrictions, an overflow room will be available where a live closed-circuit audio/video feed from the courtroom can be viewed. However, electronic devices are prohibited inside both the courtroom and the overflow room.

The courthouse will not provide Wi-Fi access; media personnel may bring their own connection devices if needed. Parking around the courthouse is restricted and strictly enforced, with media representatives advised against blocking pedestrian walkways or sidewalks.

Photography and videography are not permitted within any part of the courthouse premises except as outlined in the Security/Media Protocol Order. Media interviews must occur outside of the courthouse.
