Attorney General Alan Wilson has announced that Andrew Jeremy Reed of Richland County was sentenced to prison for possessing child sexual abuse material. Reed pleaded guilty to three counts of Sexual Exploitation of a Minor, Third Degree, in Richland County on November 5, 2024. The plea took place before the Honorable Daniel Coble.

The case began on October 1, 2023, when agents from SC Probation, Parole, and Pardon Services conducted a probation compliance operation at Reed's residence. During this operation, Reed tested positive for drugs and was subsequently arrested. A search of his room led to the seizure of two cell phones containing images of child sexual abuse material. Further examination under a search warrant revealed a total of 402 files.

Judge Coble sentenced Reed to eight years in the South Carolina Department of Corrections, granting credit for the 401 days he had already served. As part of his sentence, Reed agreed to forfeit his devices. Already listed as a sex offender due to a previous conviction, Reed will now be classified as a Tier III sex offender.

Assistant Attorney General Kristen Johnson prosecuted the case on behalf of the state.
