Secretary of State Gregg M. Amore and Attorney General Peter F. Neronha have issued a reminder to Rhode Islanders about their voting rights as early voting for the November 5, 2024 general election approaches. The RI Department of State and the Rhode Island Attorney General’s Office have collaborated to produce a resource guide titled "Know Your Rights: Rhode Island Elections," which details voters' rights and offers related resources.

“As Secretary of State, I’m committed to making sure every eligible Rhode Islander has the information they need to successfully cast their ballot, whether by mail, early in-person, or on Election Day,” stated Secretary of State Gregg M. Amore. He emphasized his ongoing partnership with Attorney General Neronha and encouraged residents to review the guide to understand their voting rights.

Attorney General Peter F. Neronha highlighted the significance of voting, stating, “Voting is our most fundamental right as American citizens; the right on which all other rights depend.” He stressed the importance of safeguarding citizens' ability to vote without intimidation or interference and expressed gratitude for Secretary Amore's collaboration on this initiative.

The "Know Your Rights" guide is available in both English and Spanish and outlines nine primary voting rights in Rhode Island. For more information about elections in Rhode Island, voters can contact the RI Department of State via email at elections@sos.ri.gov, call 401-222-2340, or visit vote.ri.gov. Additionally, a voter information hotline is accessible by dialing 2-1-1.

Voters experiencing threats or interference can report such incidents using the Attorney General’s online complaint form or by calling the Voter Information Hotline at 2-1-1 and pressing 5.

The deadline for requesting a mail ballot is today at 4 p.m., October 15, 2024. Mail ballots must be received by the Board of Elections by 8 p.m. on Election Day. Early voting begins tomorrow, October 16, and continues until November 4 at 4 p.m., with Election Day scheduled for November 5.
