Attorney General Merrick B. Garland today convened a meeting of the Election Threats Task Force. The task force, established in June 2021, has been spearheading the Department's efforts to counter threats of violence against election workers and ensure their ability to perform their duties without fear or intimidation.
The task force is actively engaged with the election community and state and local law enforcement agencies. Its primary role is to assess allegations and reports of threats against election workers. Where appropriate, it has partnered with FBI Field Offices and U.S. Attorneys’ Offices across the country to investigate and prosecute these matters.
