ORLANDO, Fla. (Legal Newsline) - A Florida lawsuit blames a school for injuries sustained in a game of tug-of-war.

A lawsuit was filed Feb. 28 in Orange County Circuit Court against Trinity Preparatory School of Florida, Inc., a private day-school in Winter Park. The plaintiffs are Giselle Pfeifer and her mother Andreea Pfeifer.

The lawsuit alleges that Giselle Pfeifer suffered serious injuries, including a partial amputation of her right ring finger, while participating in a tug-of-war event organized by the school on April 19, 2023.

The complaint further claims that the event was negligently designed and organized by the school's faculty and staff.

Specifically, it is alleged that the juniors were made to stand on a steep hill with slippery terrain after swimming across a canal while the seniors stood on a level paved surface. Moreover, it is claimed that more seniors than juniors were allowed to participate in the event and that the juniors could not hear the starting gun due to their location.

Thomas DeLattre of Wieland & DeLattre represent the plaintiffs.
