NEW YORK (Legal Newsline) - A class action lawsuit alleges goldfish crackers contain an artificial ingredient despite promising to be all natural.

A class action lawsuit was filed Jan. 5 against Pepperidge Farm, Inc. by Veronika Ward on behalf of herself and others who have purchased the company's Goldfish Flavor Blasted Baked Snack Crackers products. The suit alleges that the company falsely advertised these products as having "No Artificial Flavors or Preservatives," despite containing citric acid, a known artificial preservative.

The plaintiff claims that this misrepresentation was intended to appeal to health-conscious consumers and asserts that Pepperidge Farm has profited unjustly from this deceptive marketing. The lawsuit seeks damages for violation of New York General Business Law, breach of express warranty, and unjust enrichment.

The case was filed in the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York. Julian Diamond of Bursor & Fisher represents the plaintiff.
