NEW YORK (Legal Newsline) - More lawyers are targeting Beyond Meat, claiming the amount of protein it advertises in its products is wrong.

Jason Sultzer and lawyers at The Sultzer Law Group joined with attorneys at the firm Levin Sedran & Berman of Philadelphia to file a federal class action lawsuit July 26 in New York federal court. The suit complains the protein content listed in its plant-based meatless products is incorrect because it isn't as digestible.

"The corrected amount of protein analysis does not come to its conclusions by merely multiplying the amount of nitrogen by 6.25, as Defendant would like," the suit says.

"Instead, the protein content is calculated by accounting for the 'protein quality value' of the product or the 'protein digestibility corrected amino acid score.'"

Attorneys at Bursor & Fisher already sued the company in June in California federal court, complaining the company's methodology for determining the protein content in its patties is inflated by two grams.
