LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (Legal Newsline) -- A professor is suing an Arkansas university after claiming to have suffered employment discrimination.

Dr. Brian K. Mitchell filed a complaint on July 14 in Pulaski County Circuit Court against the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, the UALR Institutional Review Board, Board of Trustees and various members of the staff acting as fellow professors for employment discrimination under Title VII on the basis of race and national origin and other claims.

According to the complaint, Mitchell was the only Black professor in the History Department of UALR and experienced a nearly continuous pattern of discriminatory interference with achieving access to fair terms, conditions, and opportunities for advancement while a full-time professor at UALR despite his accomplishments.

Mitchell alleges that his ongoing employment was overshadowed and adversely impacted by multiple improperly motivated administrative actions. He was also allegedly subject to harassment and retaliation by parties.

Mitchell seeks compensatory, punitive and monetary damages, pre- and post-judgement interest, attorney's fees and cost of suit. Mitchell is represented by Amelia Lafont.
