NEW YORK (Legal Newsline) -- A special education teacher claims to have been violently attacked by a student while working, causing injury.

Emily Groben filed a complaint on May 17 in New York County Supreme Court against Mid Island Therapy Associates, LLC. d/b/a All About Kids.

According to the complaint, on May 22, 2018, while working as a special education teacher at the Sacred Heart of Jesus school premises in the Pre-K program, Groben was violently attacked by one of the students.

Groben alleges that before the attack, she began having serious problems with a physically abusive student and supervisors were made aware of the issue and took no action to protect Groben from the student. Groben alleges that the school was "legally bound to provide sufficient and competent personnel to supervise and to prevent harm and injury to the teachers at the said subject premises, and to insure that aggressive and violent students not be permitted to remain at the subject school."

Groben alleges having suffered great physical pain, mental anguish and bodily injuries, mental anguish and bodily injuries, with some of the physical injuries to remain permanent.

Groben seeks judgment plus cost of suit. Groben is represented by Kenneth Beal of Beal and Beal.
