WORCESTER, Mass. (Legal Newsline) - A Massachusetts family has brought charges against Uxbridge daycare facility Precious Ones Child Care Center for an alleged instance of negligence that resulted in the partial amputation of a toddler's finger.

According to documents filed Feb. 11 in the Massachusetts Superior Court, Arianna Kapitanyan, daughter of Shahan and Bonnie Kapitanyan, was 22 months old when she was under the care of the facility and its staff on Oct. 4, 2018.

The suit stated that Precious Ones management was aware that an emergency exit door at the facility either did not have a closing safety mechanism, or the mechanism was faulty. As a result, Kapitanyan suffered the partial amputation of her left ring finger.

Precious Ones is charged with one count of negligence. The Kapitanyan family is pursuing the cost of damages, medical care, interest and attornesy fees as deemed proper by the court. A trial by jury is requested.

The suit was filed by Shaun DeSantis of Diller Law, P.C., of Boston.
