BRADLEY ARANT BOULT CUMMINGS: Brad Robertson Appointed Co-Chair of LSC Emerging Leaders Council

By Press release submission | Feb 12, 2019

Bradley Arant Boult Cummings LLP issued the following announcement on Feb. 7.

Bradley is pleased to announce that Brad Robertson, a partner in the firm’s Birmingham office, has been appointed co-chair of the newly created Emerging Leaders Council of the Legal Services Corporation (LSC).

The mission of the Emerging Leaders Council is to raise public awareness of the current crisis in legal aid and the importance of access to justice. The LSC is the federally created, bipartisan non-profit that provides financial support nationwide to civil legal aid organizations that serve low-income Americans and promotes equal access to justice.

“We congratulate Brad on his appointment to lead LSC’s new Emerging Leaders Council,” said Bradley Birmingham Office Managing Partner Dawn Helms Sharff. “We also commend Brad for his leadership and commitment concerning important civil justice issues.”

“There is a national crisis that stems from a severe lack of funding to support civil legal aid. Legal aid programs assist low-income Americans in dealing with issues ranging from evictions to child custody to veteran’s benefits to protection orders against abusers. I am proud to help lead LSC’s newly formed program that will motivate young leaders to continue advocating for Americans who have legal needs but are unable to pay for them,” said Mr. Robertson.

According to the LSC, the Emerging Leaders Council includes some of the country’s rising leaders from diverse industries. Complementing the work of the LSC’s existing Leaders Council, members of the Emerging Leaders Council lend their voices and expertise to enhancing LSC’s message by participating in congressional briefings, speaking publicly about civil legal aid’s value, penning op-eds, and undertaking outreach activities.

A member of Bradley’s Government Enforcement and Investigations Practice Group, Mr. Robertson works with clients facing government investigations and litigations, dealing with whistleblower allegations and qui tam actions, and planning compliance programs. He helps his clients navigate compliance and potential liability under the False Claims Act, Anti-Kickback Statute and FIRREA, in addition to other areas of healthcare fraud and abuse, financial/mortgage fraud, and white collar criminal law.
