Nelson Mullins issued the following announcement on Feb. 5.
Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP announced today that Tori M. Silas has joined the Firm as a partner in the Atlanta office. She joins from Cox Enterprises, Inc. and will be a member of the Venture Capital and Technology Team.
Silas brings more than 14 years of large law firm and corporate legal department experience to the firm. She has advised clients in the automotive, technology, media, and telecommunications sectors as lead counsel structuring and negotiating complex technology and general commercial transactions. She has led business and technology negotiations, including outsourcing, licensing and joint ventures, hardware and software development and acquisition, and technology transfer.
A Certified Information Privacy Professional, she was Cox Enterprises’ first privacy officer, leading cross functional teams in cybersecurity, data privacy, and incident management. Before joining Cox, she was regional managing operations counsel for Harland Clarke Corp.

Outside of her practice, Silas is a past president of the Georgia Association of Black Women Attorneys and is a founding member of the Georgia Tech Bar Association. She currently serves on the board of the Georgia Appleseed Center for Law & Justice.
She earned her JD (2004) from the University of Miami School of Law and her BS in Management (1996) from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
