Ballard Spahr LLP issued the following announcement on Nov. 28.
Barbara Casey, a partner in Ballard Spahr's New Jersey office, has been named to the New Jersey Law Journal's "Top Women in Law 2018" list.
The 20 attorneys chosen to receive this honor were selected based on their career-spanning accomplishments and their impact on the legal industry, including paving the way for women in law.
"I am honored to be included with these other outstanding women," said Ms. Casey, who cited her single mother's dedication and work ethic as significant factors in her success. "I did not get here on my own, and it is a sincere privilege to mentor other female attorneys in the profession."
Now in her fourth decade of practice, Ms. Casey focuses on real property acquisition, development, sales, leasing, and commercial lending. She has represented numerous clients before local planning and zoning boards to obtain land-use approvals, variances, and other zoning approvals. Ms. Casey is a member of Ballard Spahr's Diversity and Inclusion Council and mentors women attending Rutgers Law School. She frequently uses her experience and talent on pro bono matters for clients such as Habitat for Humanity and South Jersey Legal Services. Ms. Casey has served on the board for the Girl Scouts of Central and Southern New Jersey for over 10 years, working to encourage a new generation of female lawyers and leaders.
"Barbara is eminently deserving of this recognition," said Jeffrey Beenstock, Managing Partner of Ballard Spahr's New Jersey office. "Her dependability and integrity are second to none, and she has demonstrated a strong commitment to helping other women succeed in the profession, so I am gratified to see her dedication acknowledged."
