Lewis Brisbois issued the following announcement on Nov. 6.
Lewis Brisbois is pleased to announce the expansion of its presence in Nevada by joining forces with former law firm GeorgesonAngaran. The new Reno/Tahoe office will be staffed by a team of four attorneys, headed by Managing Partner Jack G. Angaran, with Partner Alice K. Herbolsheimer and Associates Mary-Ann Ellis and Jeffrey D. Koelemay.
“We are very excited to welcome the GeorgesonAngaran team to Lewis Brisbois,” said Partner Steven Lewis, speaking on behalf of Lewis Brisbois’ Management Committee. “This team has been providing northern Nevada and the Lake Tahoe region with top-notch legal services for many years and shares a similar client base and practice focus with our firm. It’s a natural fit. The combination of our nationwide footprint and full-service platform with this team’s local knowledge and experience will create some exciting opportunities in the near future.”
This new opening brings Lewis Brisbois’ total office count to 44, spread across 26 states. Already the largest law firm in Nevada, the addition of this new location will enable Lewis Brisbois to provide greater coverage to clients operating in northern Nevada and the Lake Tahoe region, and will complement the firm’s practices in Las Vegas and northern California.
“I’m looking forward to bringing the talents and resources of our attorneys to Lewis Brisbois’ already-formidable insurance, commercial and general liability practices,” said Mr. Angaran. “This is a positive development for the firm and the Washoe County business community, which can now more easily take advantage of the full suite of legal resources Lewis Brisbois has to offer.”
Mr. Angaran is a former U.S. Army Airborne Ranger who, for over three decades, has been defense trial counsel for professionals, employers, businesses and insurance companies in a variety of complex, high exposure legal disputes and civil jury trials, including business and commercial litigation, professional liability, product liability, coverage, insurance bad faith, real estate, and personal injury. He received his law degree from Mercer University in Georgia, and is a past president of the Association of Defense Counsel of Nevada and the Reno Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA). Mr. Angaran has been selected annually as a Nevada and Mountain States Super Lawyer (Civil Litigation) and is listed in The Best Lawyers in America (Insurance, Real Estate Litigation and Construction Defect Litigation). He is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers.
Ms. Herbolsheimer is a trial lawyer with over two decades of complex civil litigation experience. Her practice covers all areas of civil and commercial litigation, including first- and third-party insurance defense, premises liability, personal injury, contract claims, products liability, professional errors and omissions, and other complex litigation involving catastrophic injury and wrongful death. A graduate of University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law, she has been appointed by the Nevada Supreme Court to serve as an arbitrator for the Court Annexed Arbitration Program.
Ms. Ellis joins Lewis Brisbois in their General Liability Practice. She is a trial lawyer whose practice focuses on cases involving personal injury, wrongful death and property damage, arising out of premises liability, general negligence and intentional torts. She is a graduate of Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at Arizona State University, where she was an editor of the Arizona State Law Journal.
Mr. Koelemay is a graduate of Northwestern University School of Law and joins Lewis Brisbois’ Insurance Coverage Practice. He has previously worked for a variety of legal public interest organizations, as an editor covering politics for Bloomberg, and most recently as a law clerk for the Third Judicial District Court of Nevada, before joining Mr. Angaran’s team earlier this year.
