Mayer Brown issued the following announcement on Oct. 29.
Mayer Brown announced that Larry Urgenson, a Washington DC-based partner and co-leader of the firm’s global Anti-Corruption & FCPA practice, received Global Investigations Review’s (GIR) 2018 “Outstanding Career” award. Mr. Urgenson was honored at GIR’s annual awards ceremony in Washington DC.
GIR noted that Mr. Urgenson “is one of an elite group of lawyers that have had standout careers in government and private practice.” The publication highlighted his career as an experienced prosecutor at the US Department of Justice (DOJ), where Mr. Urgenson “rose up the ranks of the DOJ to oversee the criminal division’s fraud section at Main Justice,” and as a defense attorney, where “he became a dean of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act bar, guiding a procession of clients to resolutions over the years.”
At the awards ceremony, Mayer Brown was also honored for its role in a case recognized as the “Most Important Development in Investigations” in 2018. The Mayer Brown team was acknowledged for its work on the landmark Société Générale settlement – the first-ever US and French joint bribery resolution. Simultaneously, Mayer Brown worked with a cross-border team of lawyers to resolve the bank’s Libor manipulation charges with the DOJ and the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission. The Litigation & Dispute Resolution team included partners Steven Wolowitz, Henninger “Hank” Bullock, Andrew Calica (all New York) and Ethan Hastert (Chicago), as well as other lawyers from the firm’s New York and Chicago offices.
Additionally, for the fourth consecutive year, Mayer Brown was named to the “GIR 30,” the publication’s list of the “world’s top 30 investigations practices.”
