German Montano-Peralta, a 33-year-old resident of Nacozari, Sonora, Mexico, has been sentenced to 88 months in prison. The sentence was handed down on May 12, 2025, by United States District Judge Angela Martinez. Following his prison term, Montano-Peralta will be subject to three years of supervised release. He had previously pleaded guilty to charges of conspiracy to distribute fentanyl and methamphetamine.

The case stems from an incident on April 30, 2024, in Tucson, Arizona. On that day, Montano-Peralta and others were found in possession of approximately 40 kilograms of powder and pills containing fentanyl and over 55 pounds of methamphetamine. They intended to deliver these substances later that day.

This investigation was part of the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) initiative in Southern Arizona. The effort is led by the Arizona Strike Force based in Tucson. OCDETF's mission is to identify, disrupt, and dismantle top-level drug traffickers and criminal organizations through a collaborative approach involving federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies.

The investigation was conducted by Homeland Security Investigations, the FBI, and the Drug Enforcement Administration. Assistant U.S. Attorney David Petermann from the District of Arizona in Tucson handled the prosecution.
