Brandon Spence, known as "Spun," has been sentenced to 56 months in federal prison followed by three years of supervised release for distributing fentanyl and cocaine. The sentence was handed down by U.S. District Judge Kari A. Dooley in Bridgeport.

The legal proceedings revealed that Spence, a resident of East Hartford, had a prior conviction for unlawfully possessing a firearm as a felon. He was initially sentenced to 24 months in prison and released in February 2020. Later that year, on December 7, Hartford Police surveillance cameras recorded an incident where Spence shot an individual in the leg during a dispute and stole their vehicle. This led to an additional 24-month sentence for violating his supervised release conditions.

In early 2024, the FBI's Northern Connecticut Gang Task Force conducted controlled purchases of fentanyl and crack cocaine from Spence, leading to his arrest on April 3, 2024. A search authorized by the court at the time of his arrest uncovered distribution quantities of fentanyl, crack cocaine, and marijuana at his residence and in his vehicles.

On January 28, 2025, Spence pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute and distribution of cocaine and fentanyl. He has remained detained since his arrest.

The investigation was carried out by the FBI’s Northern Connecticut Gang Task Force alongside the Hartford Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Shan Patel prosecuted the case.
