Attorney General Miyares announces key leadership changes

Virginia Attorney General Jason Miyares has announced new leadership appointments within the Office of the Attorney General. Ryan Ferguson, who has been serving as Chief of Staff since April 28, will continue in his role as General Counsel, a position he has held since August 2022. Before joining Miyares' administration, Ferguson worked as an Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney in Virginia Beach and practiced law at Kaufman & Canoles, PC. He was also a litigation partner with Bischoff Martingayle, PC. Ferguson is an alumnus of James Madison University and Regent University School of Law.

Shaun Kenney took on the role of Senior Advisor effective May 10. Previously, he served as Director of Communications and was once the executive director of the Republican Party of Virginia. Kenney graduated from the University of Virginia and is pursuing graduate studies in philosophy at the Catholic University of America.

Chloe Smith became Director of Communications on May 10 after her tenure as Deputy Director of Communications and Press Secretary. She joined Miyares’ administration in August 2022 and holds a degree from Colgate University.
