Yesterday, a jury in St. Joseph County found Geral Whitney, 69, guilty of one count of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and two counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct. The conviction was announced by Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel. Whitney, a resident of Harrison, was charged in 2023 for sexually assaulting a relative two decades ago.

"Sexual assaults are very serious crimes, and I am grateful to the jury for their deliberations and to the victims who displayed great courage to come forward," stated Nessel. "My Department remains committed to securing justice for sexual assault survivors."

The investigation was conducted by the St. Joseph County Sheriff and Prosecuting Attorney's Office. The prosecution was managed by the Department of Attorney General at the request made in 2024.

Whitney is scheduled for sentencing on July 11, 2025, before Judge Paul Stutesman in the 45th Circuit Court in St. Joseph County.
