Minnesota State Trooper Jeremy Francis Plonski has been indicted in a U.S. District Court on four counts related to the production and distribution of child pornography. The announcement came from Acting U.S. Attorney Lisa D. Kirkpatrick.

Plonski, who was previously charged via federal complaint with producing child pornography, remains detained pending trial. If convicted, he faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years in prison, with the possibility of life imprisonment.

“The U.S. Attorney’s Office has zero tolerance for public officials who violate federal laws—particularly those laws that protect vulnerable children from sexual abuse,” said Acting U.S. Attorney Lisa D. Kirkpatrick. She emphasized that Plonski's actions were "abhorrent" and betrayed his oath to serve the community.

Special Agent in Charge Alvin M. Winston Sr., of FBI Minneapolis, expressed concern over the alleged conduct, stating it represents a "gross betrayal of public trust." He reaffirmed law enforcement's commitment to protecting vulnerable populations and pursuing justice against those exploiting positions of authority.

Bureau of Criminal Apprehension Superintendent Drew Evans also highlighted the importance of cooperation between federal, state, and local partners in addressing crimes against children.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Daniel W. Bobier. The investigation involved efforts from the FBI, Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, Shakopee Police Department, and Minnesota State Patrol.

An indictment is an allegation; hence, Plonski is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in court.
