A Story City man has admitted to charges of conspiring to distribute methamphetamine and fentanyl in federal court. William Clark, Jr., aged 40, entered a guilty plea on May 8, 2025, in Sioux City.

Clark was convicted of one count related to the distribution conspiracy involving these drugs. During the plea hearing, he acknowledged that between January 2024 and April 27, 2024, he worked with others to distribute at least half a pound of methamphetamine and over 1,700 fentanyl pills. On April 21, 2024, Clark and two accomplices were en route to Colorado for more methamphetamine and intended to sell fentanyl pills when they engaged in a high-speed chase with law enforcement. Clark also made a false emergency call to aid their escape from authorities while carrying evidence of drug trafficking.

Sentencing will be determined by United States District Court Judge Leonard T. Strand after the preparation of a presentence report. Clark remains in custody under the United States Marshal's supervision until sentencing. He faces a mandatory minimum sentence of five years' imprisonment and could receive up to forty years' imprisonment, along with a $5 million fine and at least four years of supervised release following any incarceration.
