An individual from Mexico, previously convicted of sexually assaulting a teenage girl, has been sentenced to 35 months in federal prison for illegally reentering the United States. The announcement was made by Acting United States Attorney for the Northern District of Texas, Chad E. Meacham.

Enrique Campos-Gomez, aged 45, was indicted in November 2024 and pleaded guilty in January 2025 to illegal reentry after deportation by immigration authorities in 2014. U.S. District Judge Jane Boyle handed down the sentence on Thursday, May 8.

During the sentencing hearing, prosecutors highlighted Campos-Gomez's violent criminal history as a community threat. His record includes a 2008 Dallas County conviction for domestic violence and multiple violations of a protective order obtained by the same victim in 2008 and 2009. Additionally, he was convicted in Dallas County in 2013 for sexually assaulting a fifteen-year-old girl and failed to register as a sex offender as required by federal law.

Acting United States Attorney Chad E. Meacham stated, "This case highlights the continuing need to protect the public from offenders with violent tendencies who should not be in the United States in the first place." He added that individuals attempting to hide illegally will be found and brought to justice.

Josh Johnson, ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations Dallas acting Field Office Director, emphasized their commitment to protecting minors and at-risk members of society: "Criminal aliens like this one who repeatedly prey on our children are not welcome in our communities. We will track them down and remove them to ensure the safety of those who cannot protect themselves."

The investigation was conducted by ICE, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Katy Garner prosecuting the case.
