The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma has announced the sentencing of Steven Mark McAnally, a 65-year-old resident of Hugo, Oklahoma. McAnally received a prison sentence of 63 months for possessing material involving the sexual exploitation of a minor. Following his release, he will undergo five years of supervised probation.

The case was investigated by the Choctaw Nation Lighthorse Police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. McAnally pleaded guilty to the charge on December 12, 2024. Investigators reported that in July 2023, McAnally knowingly possessed visual depictions from the internet showing minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct, which he accessed with intent to view.

This case is part of Project Safe Childhood, an initiative started in May 2006 by the Department of Justice to address child sexual exploitation and abuse. The project coordinates federal, state, and local resources to locate and prosecute offenders while identifying and rescuing victims.

Authorities urge anyone with information about child sexual exploitation or related offenses to contact law enforcement immediately. Reports can be filed through various channels including the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children at 1-800-843-5678 or online at www.cybertipline.com.

The sentencing hearing was presided over by Chief U.S. District Judge Ronald A. White in Muskogee, Oklahoma. McAnally will remain under U.S. Marshals Service custody until he is transported to a designated facility within the United States Bureau of Prisons system.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Sarah McAmis represented the government during the proceedings.
