On May 8, 2025, Henry Abdo, a 48-year-old Lebanese national, was sentenced to 14 years in prison by United States District Court Judge William P. Dimitrouleas. Abdo was also ordered to pay a $300,000 fine and $375,479 in restitution for orchestrating a Ponzi scheme that defrauded investors of over $6 million.
Abdo pled guilty to the charges in federal court. His company, Titanium Capital LLC, claimed to operate a foreign exchange platform with guaranteed fixed returns for investors. However, court records revealed that no such platform existed. Instead, investor funds were used to pay off earlier investors and finance Abdo's personal lifestyle.
Starting in July 2014, Abdo falsely marketed Titanium Capital as a "zero-risk" investment fund generating profits from foreign currency transaction fees. He further misled investors by claiming affiliations with a multibillion-dollar holding company and registration with the Securities and Exchange Commission—none of which were true.
Court documents show that Abdo solicited investments through various means including meetings and digital communications. He directed potential investors to websites and promotional materials falsely portraying Titanium Capital as legitimate. In reality, it operated as a classic Ponzi scheme using new investor funds to pay earlier ones while diverting money for personal use.
Abdo also attempted to enhance his credibility by falsely associating himself with charitable organizations and claiming donations from Titanium Capital's profits were made to assist the blind and handicapped.
The unraveling of this scheme left many victims financially devastated; some lost retirement accounts and savings crucial for basic living expenses like food and medication.
The announcement was made by U.S. Attorney Hayden P. O’Byrne for the Southern District of Florida along with acting Special Agent in Charge Brett Skiles of the FBI Miami Field Office.
The case was investigated by FBI Miami’s Palm Beach Resident Agency and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Jonathan Bailyn and Justin Chapman in West Palm Beach, Florida.
