A Farmington, Pennsylvania resident has been indicted by a federal grand jury in Pittsburgh on charges related to the sexual exploitation of a minor. Acting United States Attorney Troy Rivetti announced that Nathan Fike, aged 40, is named as the sole defendant in this case.
The indictment alleges that Fike distributed material depicting the sexual exploitation of a minor on or about October 4, 2023. It further claims that he knowingly possessed similar material on or about February 9, 2024. This indictment is part of Operation Restore Justice, a nationwide effort by the Department of Justice and the Federal Bureau of Investigation aimed at identifying and arresting child sex predators. This operation resulted in the rescue of 115 children and the arrests of 205 offenders over five days.
According to legal provisions, Fike faces a maximum sentence ranging from five to 40 years in prison and could be fined up to $250,000. The actual sentence will depend on the severity of the offenses and any prior criminal history.
Assistant United States Attorney DeMarr W. Moulton is prosecuting the case for the government, with investigations conducted by the FBI.
This case is part of Project Safe Childhood, an initiative launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse. The project coordinates resources at federal, state, and local levels to prosecute offenders and rescue victims.
It is important to note that an indictment is merely an accusation; Nathan Fike is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
