Daemien Thompson, a 39-year-old resident of Oak Hill, West Virginia, has pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine. The plea was entered in Beckley and involves the distribution of 50 grams or more of the drug.
Court documents reveal that Thompson conspired with others to obtain and distribute methamphetamine in the Southern District of West Virginia from November 27, 2022, until December 6, 2023. On November 27, 2022, Thompson and an accomplice sold 446 grams of methamphetamine to a confidential informant for $2,600. Thompson admitted his involvement in this transaction and acknowledged that his co-conspirators also sold methamphetamine to the same informant on multiple occasions.
Thompson's guilty plea includes admissions of participating in controlled purchases of high-purity methamphetamine on three separate dates: December 5 and December 14 in 2022, and February 2 in 2023. These transactions totaled approximately 2.59 pounds of actual methamphetamine.
Sentencing for Thompson is set for September 12, 2025. He faces a mandatory minimum sentence of ten years imprisonment and could receive up to life imprisonment. Additionally, he may be subject to at least five years of supervised release and a fine up to $10 million.
Thompson is one of four individuals indicted by a federal grand jury for their roles in this drug trafficking conspiracy. All have pleaded guilty. Phillip Gray, aged 41 from Oak Hill, will be sentenced on August 8, while Leondus Whittenburg from Beckley will face sentencing on July 3 after pleading guilty earlier this year. John Gray from Oak Hill awaits sentencing following his guilty plea last September.
Acting United States Attorney Lisa G. Johnston announced the developments and praised the investigative efforts by the FBI, ATF, and Central Regional Drug and Violent Crime Task Force.
The hearing was overseen by United States Magistrate Judge Omar J. Aboulhosn with Assistant United States Attorneys Timothy D. Boggess and Brian D. Parsons prosecuting alongside former Assistant United States Attorney Timothy Andrew D. Isabell.
