Attorney General Ken Paxton has announced the resolution of a lawsuit against Coppell Independent School District. The legal action was initiated in March 2025 to prevent the district from incorporating critical race theory (CRT) and other unapproved curricula, which are considered violations of state law, into its classrooms.
The lawsuit concluded with Coppell ISD agreeing not to teach CRT within the district. Additionally, the school district has informed teachers and staff about the legal prohibitions concerning CRT and emphasized compliance with Texas law.
"Every school district must follow the law, and Coppell ISD is no exception. The District made the right decision by working with my office to ensure that anti-American critical race theory is not taught in classrooms," said Attorney General Paxton. "I call on all school districts to voluntarily act to stop woke ideology from being forced on Texas kids, and if they don’t then I’ll see them in court."
Paxton further stated his readiness to take necessary actions if any district, including Coppell ISD, fails to comply with these regulations in the future.
