On May 5, 2025, The Buckeye Institute submitted an amicus brief to the U.S. Supreme Court in the case of Wolford v. Lopez. The organization is urging the Supreme Court to affirm that lower courts are required to adhere to its rulings on the Second Amendment.

David C. Tryon, director of litigation at The Buckeye Institute, stated, "The U.S. Supreme Court’s decisions are the law of the land with regards to the U.S. Constitution, and lower courts cannot simply ignore the court or parts of the Constitution."

The brief requests that the Supreme Court grant a petition and overturn a decision by the U.S. Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. The aim is to ensure that lower courts recognize and comply with precedents set by the nation's highest court.
