A Pittsburgh resident has been sentenced to three years in federal prison for possessing a firearm as a convicted felon. The announcement was made by Acting United States Attorney Troy Rivetti.

Senior United States District Judge Nora Barry Fischer delivered the sentence to Deon Cortez Dutrieuille, aged 24, on May 1, 2025.

The case details presented in court revealed that on November 25, 2023, the Monroeville Police Department responded to a retail theft incident at Monroeville Mall. Dutrieuille was found in the driver's seat of a vehicle wearing a stolen jacket and admitted he had not paid for it. He also had an outstanding arrest warrant related to another matter. When approached by officers, Dutrieuille provided false names and fled but was eventually apprehended. A search of his car uncovered a stolen Glock handgun with his fingerprints on it, confirmed by the Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office. Dutrieuille's criminal history includes multiple felony convictions for robbery and illegal gun possession. Federal law prohibits convicted felons from possessing firearms or ammunition.

Assistant United States Attorney Brendan T. Conway led the prosecution for this case.

Acting United States Attorney Rivetti acknowledged the efforts of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives along with the Monroeville Police Department for their roles in investigating and prosecuting Dutrieuille successfully.
