Attorney General Ken Paxton has expressed his support for new school choice legislation in Texas. Governor Abbott recently signed the bill, marking a significant shift in educational policy. Paxton described the bill as a "major victory" for parents and students in Texas, aiming to provide them with more options in their education pursuits. He emphasized the importance of having the freedom to choose schools that align with individual academic needs.
In his statement, Paxton highlighted potential challenges that might arise with the new legislation. "If radical activists and special interests sue to prevent children from receiving the education that’s best for them, I promise to vigorously defend this law. Texas will provide educational freedom and school choice to our students," he stated.
Paxton has a history of advocating for parental rights and school choice. In 2023, he determined that the Texas Constitution did not legally oppose school choice, setting the foundation for the newly signed legislation.
