A Pittsburgh man was sentenced to three months in federal prison followed by three years of supervised release for escaping from custody. Acting United States Attorney Troy Rivetti revealed the sentencing in federal court.

Senior United States District Judge Nora Barry Fischer handed down the sentence to 44-year-old Ryan Gainer.

Court details indicate that on October 17, 2024, Gainer did not return to his residential reentry center after a 48-hour home pass without authorization. He was serving a federal sentence at the time.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Heidi M. Grogan on behalf of the government.

Acting United States Attorney Rivetti acknowledged the efforts of the United States Marshals Service for their investigation that contributed to Gainer's prosecution.
