Laikin Williams of Parkersburg was sentenced to three years of federal probation for making a false statement in the acquisition of a firearm. The sentence was handed down on May 1, 2025, following his involvement in a straw purchase crime.
Court records indicate that on August 5, 2022, Williams purchased a Taurus model PT111 G2A 9mm pistol from a Parkersburg business. He falsely claimed on the ATF's Federal Firearms Transaction Records Form 4473 that he was the buyer when he was purchasing the firearm for another person.
Acting United States Attorney Lisa G. Johnston announced the sentencing outcome. She praised "the investigative work of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF)" as well as the support from "the Parkersburg Violent Crime and Narcotics Task Force."
The sentence was imposed by United States District Judge Thomas E. Johnston. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorneys Timothy D. Boggess and D. Keith Randolph, with former Assistant United States Attorney Troy D. Adams having been involved as well.
