A jury has convicted Cedrick Demon Robinson, a former soldier stationed at Fort Stewart, Georgia, of crimes related to the abuse of two children. Robinson, aged 42 from Oxford, Mississippi, was found guilty of Aggravated Sexual Abuse of a Child and Attempted Production of a Visual Depiction of a Minor Engaging in Sexually Explicit Conduct. The announcement was made by Tara M. Lyons, Acting U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Georgia. The trial, which lasted two days, took place in the Southern District of Georgia with U.S. District Court Chief Judge R. Stan Baker presiding.

According to Acting U.S. Attorney Lyons, “Protecting children from those who would abuse them and seeking justice for sexual predators remains one of our District’s highest priorities. We will continue to seek justice for those who would victimize our most vulnerable citizens.”

Courtroom testimony revealed that in December 2013, Robinson sexually abused a minor by fondling the child's genitals when the child was only nine years old. In 2017, he attempted to solicit a sexually explicit photograph from another child who was fifteen at the time.

Robinson's sentencing is pending the completion of a presentence investigation by U.S. Probation Services.

Special Agent in Charge Steven Ausfeldt of the Department of the Army Criminal Investigation Division, Southeast Field Office, stated, "Mr. Robinson's conviction is a testament to the diligent work of our special agents and prosecutorial partners at the United States Attorney's Office. Army CID will aggressively pursue anyone who would abuse or exploit our children."

The investigation was conducted by the Department of the Army Criminal Investigation Division’s Fort Stewart Office, with the prosecution handled by Southern District of Georgia Assistant United States Attorneys Michael Z. Spitulnik and Darron J. Hubbard.
