Andrew Corbin and Calvin Roberts, both from Akron, Ohio, have been sentenced to substantial prison terms after pleading guilty to drug trafficking conspiracy charges. U.S. District Court Judge John R. Adams handed Corbin a 15-year prison sentence, following his admission of guilt to conspiracy and possession with intent to distribute fentanyl and methamphetamine, and using his residence for drug activities. Roberts received a sentence of more than 19 years from Judge Adams for conspiracy, distribution of fentanyl and methamphetamine, and using his home for drug transactions. He also pleaded guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, building on previous convictions for heroin trafficking in 2013 and 2020.

Court documents detail that between April 1 and August 28, 2023, Roberts acquired methamphetamine and fentanyl in distribution quantities from a local supplier and sold these drugs to Corbin, who lived nearby. Together, they sold drugs from their homes using a network of co-conspirators to reach customers in and around Summit County.

A search of Roberts’s home on August 28 revealed a loaded Smith and Wesson 9mm pistol, ecstasy pills, a digital scale, an extended magazine, and cellphones. Roberts admitted to selling fentanyl and methamphetamine from his home, with profits ranging from $1,600 to $1,900 per pound. On the same day, a search of Corbin’s residence led to the discovery of a Phoenix Arms 9mm pistol, ammunition, scales, drug paraphernalia, and several cellphones. Corbin acknowledged purchasing drugs from Roberts for personal use and resale.

The drugs seized in the operation weighed around 17 ounces and had a street value exceeding $8,000.

The case involves other co-conspirators as well. Ernest Shropshire, 39, and Phillip August, 57, both from Akron, pleaded guilty to drug conspiracy charges and are scheduled for sentencing on May 22 and May 20, 2025, respectively.

The investigation was conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF), and Assistant U.S. Attorney Joseph P. Dangelo prosecuted the case for the Northern District of Ohio.
