Moments ago, a jury found Nadine Menendez guilty of participating in a corruption and foreign influence scheme with her husband, former Senator Robert Menendez. According to Acting United States Attorney Matthew Podolsky, “Nadine Menendez and Senator Menendez were partners in crime.” Over five years, Nadine Menendez allegedly accepted various forms of bribes, including gold bars, cash, a Mercedes-Benz convertible, and a no-show job in return for Senator Menendez’s corrupt actions. Podolsky stated, “Today’s verdict sends the clear message that the power of government officials may not be put up for sale, and that all those who facilitate corruption will be held accountable for their actions.” He expressed gratitude to the prosecutors of his office and the agents of the FBI and IRS—Criminal Investigation for their dedication to the case and efforts to ensure justice.
